Job Purpose:
Mohamed Bin Zayed University of Artificial Intelligence (MBZUAI) is Research Division is seeking a highly skilled and proactive Strategic Technology & Innovation Analyst to support impactful, forward-thinking projects at the intersection of emerging technologies, innovation policy, and strategic planning. The ideal candidate will possess a strong analytical background, deep technical expertise, and a proven ability to distill complex information into clear, actionable insights for decision-makers.
Key Responsibilities:
- Draft comprehensive strategy papers, innovation outlooks, and technology impact assessments tailored to executive and governmental audiences.
- Conduct detailed technical and market analysis of emerging technologies, particularly within the global and local innovation ecosystem.
- Analyze the potential economic, societal, and policy impacts of key technologies across industries and sectors.
- Develop visually compelling decks, briefing notes, and dashboards to support strategic communication and decision-making.
- Translate technical developments into insights relevant to innovation policy, investment strategy, and national technology agendas.
- Monitor and report on regional and global technology trends, contributing to internal knowledge and foresight efforts.
- Support leadership in preparing executive-level engagements, workshops, and publications related to innovation and emerging tech.
- Maintain a structured repository of research, data sources, and visual assets for reuse and scalability.
- Perform all other duties as reasonably directed by the line manager that are commensurate with these functional objectives.
Institutional Strategy:
- Ensure timely provision of data and reports to management and recommend operational improvements to support planning, decision-making, and continuous improvement.
- Monitor monthly and quarterly performance results, identify areas for remediation, and if required, take prompt, corrective action to meet division and MBZUAI goals.
- Ensure section priorities and plans fully align with department and divisional objectives.
Financial & Organizational Management:
- Effectively manage resources and report on the section budget; identify, account for, and report budget deviations; and take prompt, corrective action to ensure section goals are achieved within budget parameters.
- Contribute to accurate demand planning by analyzing and providing section data and information to inform accurate forecasting of resource requirements.
- Model and promote cross-collaboration between MBZUAI departments and sections.
- Implement section policies, contributing to the development of operational procedures and guidelines to put them into effect.
Academic Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Innovation Studies, Technology Policy, or a related field.
- A postgraduate degree will be preferred.
Professional Experience:
- 5+ years of experience in a strategic, consulting, or analyst role focused on emerging technologies, innovation, or digital transformation.
- Demonstrated experience in writing policy briefs, strategy papers, or similar analytical outputs for senior stakeholders.
- Strong familiarity with technologies such as AI, robotics, quantum computing, and digital infrastructure, in depth Knowledge and understanding of innovation, industry, research.
- Excellent PowerPoint and dashboard creation skills; ability to convey complex topics visually and clearly.
- Experience using data visualization tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau, or equivalent) is an advantage.
- Deep knowledge of the regional technology landscape and innovation policy context is highly desirable.
- Excellent communication skills in English; Arabic is a plus.
- Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion.
