Job Purpose:
MBZUAI is seeking a talented and dependable in-house Photographer to join on a full-time basis. The ideal candidate will be a creative visual storyteller with extensive experience in capturing a wide range of subjects, including live events, high-profile delegation visits, and professional corporate portraits. This role also encompasses post-production editing, digital asset management, and the coordination of studio operations to ensure seamless and impactful visual content.
Key Responsibilities:
- Capture a diverse range of photography assignments, including high-profile events, VIP visits, corporate portraits, and branded visual content. Ensure each image reflects the institution’s brand identity and effectively communicates its strategic messaging.
- Plan and execute photo shoots with a focus on professional lighting, composition, and brand consistency. This includes developing shot lists, coordinating with key stakeholders, and adapting styles for various contexts to deliver impactful visual content.
- Perform high-quality retouching and post-production editing, including color correction, cropping, resizing, and image enhancement, to produce polished, professional imagery suitable for digital and print use.
- Organize, tag, and archive digital photo assets in line with internal data management protocols. Implement effective file management practices to ensure quick access and long-term asset preservation.
- Coordinate studio bookings and manage scheduling logistics, ensuring efficient workflow for both on-site and in-studio sessions. Oversee studio readiness and equipment availability to support seamless project execution.
Collaboration:
- Collaborate effectively with content, creative, marketing, media, public relations, and other university departments to ensure strategic alignment and seamless execution of shared objectives. This includes coordinating closely to support consistent brand messaging, visual storytelling, and integrated communication strategies.
- Work with communications and events teams to capture high-quality photography that aligns with the institution’s goals, including live event coverage, VIP visits, and professional headshots.
- Partner with internal stakeholders to plan, execute, and deliver visual content that supports broader organizational goals, ensuring all creative outputs are aligned with the university’s mission, values, and branding guidelines.
Other Duties:
- Perform all other duties as reasonably directed by the line manager that are commensurate with these functional objectives.
Academic Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in relevant field.
- A postgraduate degree will be preferred.
Professional Experience:
Essential
- 8+ years proven experience as an event and portrait photographer.
- Experience with high level VIP visits.
- Strong technical skills in DSLR/mirrorless photography, lighting setups, and Adobe Creative Suite (especially Lightroom and Photoshop).
- Ability to manage multiple assignments under tight timelines.
- Organized, dependable, and professional in high-stakes environments.
- Familiarity with digital asset management and basic studio operations.
- Video production skills and experience are a plus.
Preferred
- Understanding of compliance and ethical considerations in public communication.
- Familiarity with UAE cultural norms and social media practices is a must.
