The Digital Learning Specialist is responsible for building MBZUAI’s digital learning capability from the ground up establishing the university’s first internal staff LMS (Oracle +), developing high-quality digital pathways and content, and enabling technology-driven learning. This role enhances visibility of learning options and development pathways, and leverages AI-enabled tools to help employees understand what skills are needed and what resources are available. By driving innovation and applying a Plan–Do–Check–Act (PDCA) cycle approach to drive continuous improvement, this role ensures digital learning solutions directly strengthen MBZUAI’s culture, performance and talent management goals.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the implementation, configuration, and ongoing administration of MBZUAI’s internal staff Learning Management System (LMS), ensuring an intuitive, reliable, and high-quality learner experience.
- Build, upload, test, publish, and maintain digital learning courses and assets within the LMS, including enrolments, notifications, learning journeys, competencies, and reporting dashboards.
- Design, develop, and curate high-quality digital learning content, including micro-learning modules, interactive courses, videos, simulations, assessments, and SCORM/xAPI assets, using modern authoring tools.
- Introduce, manage, and continuously enhance AI-enabled learning tools that support employees in understanding required skills, development pathways, and available learning resources.
- Ensure digital learning experiences clearly support visibility of career development pathways and align with MBZUAI’s talent management and capability framework.
- Partner closely with the L&D Lead to integrate digital learning components into blended learning programs and ensure alignment between digital and live learning experiences.
- Support national talent development priorities by ensuring digital learning pathways are accessible, scalable, and aligned with UAE National capability and career development needs.
- Apply a Plan–Do–Check–Act (PDCA) approach to continuously review, refine, and improve digital learning solutions, content quality, and learner engagement.
- Own and maintain a calendar of digital learning campaigns, ensuring content remains current, relevant, and refreshed on a regular basis.
- Source and manage third-party digital learning content and vendors where appropriate, ensuring quality and alignment with institutional standards.
- Actively support university-wide change initiatives by designing and delivering digital learning materials that enable new systems, processes, and ways of working.
- Monitor LMS performance, troubleshoot issues, and serve as the first point of contact for digital learning system queries and support.
- Collect, analyse, and report on digital learning data, including usage, completion rates, and engagement indicators, providing insights to inform continuous improvement.
- Partner with IT and HR Operations to ensure seamless system integration, data accuracy, and alignment with broader HR platforms.
- Support the digital components of onboarding, leadership development, coaching pathways, compliance learning, and other strategic learning initiatives.
Academic Qualifications Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
Professional Experience Required:
Essential
- Proven experience implementing, administering, or managing a Learning Management System (LMS), preferably within an enterprise, higher education, or research-based environment.
- Hands-on experience designing, developing, and maintaining digital learning content, including e-learning modules, micro-learning, videos, assessments, and blended learning assets.
- Practical experience supporting employee learning and development programs through digital platforms and technology-enabled solutions.
- Experience managing learning data, enrolments, completions, and basic learning analytics to support reporting and continuous improvement.
- Demonstrated ability to support users, troubleshoot system or access issues, and provide clear guidance to employees and managers.
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple digital learning activities concurrently.
Preferred
- Experience working with Oracle LMS or similar enterprise HR learning platforms.
- Exposure to AI-enabled learning tools, skills platforms, or career pathway technologies.
- Experience supporting onboarding, leadership development, compliance training, or organizational change initiatives through digital learning.
- Familiarity with SCORM/xAPI standards and modern e-learning authoring tools.
- Experience working in higher education, research institutions, or similarly complex organizational environments.
- Experience supporting national talent development, workforce localization, or UAE-focused learning initiatives.
