Job Purpose:

The Institute of Foundation Models (IFM) is seeking a Community Development Manager to help expand the reach and impact of our AI and machine learning models beyond the university environment. This role bridges the gap between research innovation and real-world application ensuring our models are accessible, well-documented, and actively adopted by external developers, partners, and organizations.

The ideal candidate combines strong technical acumen with exceptional communication and community-building skills to promote the use of our technology, foster developer engagement, and support adoption strategies across multiple sectors.

 

Key Responsibilities:

Community Development & Engagement

  • Build and nurture a developer and user community around the university’s AI models and tools.
  • Organize workshops, hackathons, webinars, and training sessions to showcase model capabilities and encourage adoption.
  • Develop partnerships with industry, government, and academic collaborators to promote technology transfer and open innovation.
  • Represent the organization at external events, conferences, and meetups to champion its technological initiatives.

Technology Adoption & Support

  • Work closely with the Product Development and Models teams to understand technical capabilities, deployment requirements, and user needs.
  • Translate complex research outputs into practical applications, documentation, and user guides.
  • Provide technical onboarding and ongoing support for external partners adopting our models and APIs.
  • Monitor feedback from users and partners to inform product improvements and feature prioritization.
  • Collaborate with DevOps and MLOps teams to ensure seamless model deployment, accessibility (APIs, SDKs, etc.), and reliability for end users.

Content & Knowledge Sharing

  • Develop and maintain public-facing resources such as documentation, tutorials, FAQs, and demo repositories.
  • Support the creation of case studies and success stories showcasing impactful applications of the models.
  • Contribute to communication materials for product updates, releases, and adoption milestones.

Professional Experience:

Essential

  • Minimum of 4 years of experience in IT outreach, developer relations, technical community management, or technology adoption roles.
  • Proficiency with modern programming languages (e.g., Python, JavaScript) and API integration.
  • Familiarity with ML model lifecycle tools (e.g., TensorFlow, PyTorch, Hugging Face, Docker, Kubernetes).
  • Understanding of open-source collaboration platforms (e.g., GitHub, GitLab) and documentation workflows.
  • Ability to translate technical concepts for non-technical stakeholders.

Preferred

  • Experience with AI/ML technologies, cloud infrastructure, or software deployment is highly desirable.
