MBZUAI is seeking a talented and dependable in-house Videographer, a creative visual storyteller with extensive experience capturing and producing a wide range of video content, including live events, high-profile delegation visits, professional corporate video, and longer form factual content. The role operates within a busy, fast-paced creative department, delivering on multiple projects concurrently whilst meeting the specific requirements of different departments across the university.
Key Responsibilities
- Capture a diverse range of videography assignments, including high-profile events, VIP visits, promotional videos, branded video content, podcasts, and vodcasts.
- Operate the in-house studio for podcast and vodcast recordings, managing multi-camera setups and ensuring high-quality capture. Edit recorded material for both audio and video applications.
- Plan and execute video shoots with a focus on professional lighting, composition, sound quality, and brand consistency. This includes coordinating with key stakeholders and adapting styles for various contexts.
- Perform high-quality video editing and post-production, including colour correction, sound design, video assembly, motion graphics, titling, and basic animation using After Effects.
- Organize, tag, and archive digital video assets in line with internal data management protocols. Implement effective file management practices to ensure quick access and long-term asset preservation.
- Demonstrate progressive use of generative AI tools in editing workflows and effective utilization of stock libraries to enhance production value and efficiency.
- Maintain an active interest in the role of music and sound design in storytelling, continuously working to increase the quality of creative work through thoughtful audio choices.
- Manage all camera and production equipment, including regular maintenance schedules, battery management, and equipment checks to ensure operational readiness. Maintain detailed inventory of equipment and coordinate repairs or servicing as needed.
Collaboration
- Work with communications and events teams to capture high-quality videography that aligns with the institution’s goals, including live event coverage, VIP visits, and promotional videos.
- Work with the Head of Creative to develop a strategic approach to more effective and high-quality storytelling.
- Collaborate effectively with marketing and other university departments to ensure strategic alignment and consistent brand messaging.
- Communicate directly with internal clients across the university from initial brief through to final delivery.
- Maintain openness to challenge client requests with fresh ideas and creative thinking.
- Build and manage effective partnerships with external suppliers when additional camera or edit crew are required, ensuring high-quality service delivery and alignment with project requirements.
Academic Qualifications Required
- Bachelor’s degree in relevant field.
- A postgraduate degree would be preferred.
Essential Professional Experience Required
- 8+ years of relevant experience.
- Strong portfolio demonstrating creative vision.
- Experience with high level VIP visits.
- Strong technical skills in video production, lighting setups, and Adobe Creative Suite.
- Proven experience in video production, including filming, editing, and sound design.
- Ability to manage multiple assignments under tight timelines.
- Organized, dependable, and professional in high-stakes environments.
- Familiarity with digital asset management.
Preferred
- Understanding of compliance and ethical considerations in public communication.
- Familiarity with UAE cultural norms and social media practices is a must.
