Job Purpose:

The Undergraduate Recruitment Specialist will play a critical role in growing MBZUAI’s undergraduate student pipeline by designing and executing targeted recruitment strategies. This role involves engaging with prospective students and key stakeholders through events, digital outreach, and institutional partnerships to drive interest and enrollment in the university’s undergraduate AI programs. The position requires a proactive approach to relationship-building, strong communication skills, and the ability to adapt recruitment tactics based on market trends, student insights, and strategic enrollment goals.

 

Key Responsibilities:

Recruitment Planning & Outreach:

  • Assist in organizing and executing recruitment events, including candidate weekend, counsellors’ weekend, open days, school visits, education fairs, and virtual sessions.
  • Coordinate logistics for events (venue booking, materials preparation, registration tracking).
  • Represent MBZUAI at recruitment events to engage with prospective students and parents.
  • Support the development of event-related promotional materials in collaboration with the marketing team.

Engagement & Communication:

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for prospective undergraduate students and families, addressing inquiries via email, phone, and in-person meetings.
  • Deliver compelling presentations about MBZUAI’s programs, admissions process, scholarships, and career opportunities in AI.
  • Collaborate with the marketing team to create recruitment materials (brochures, videos, social media content) tailored to undergraduate audiences.

Student Engagement & Support:

  • Organize and support on candidate weekend, counsellors’ weekend, open days, campus tours, and other yield events to convert prospects into enrolled students.
  • Track and analyze recruitment metrics (application rates, conversion, demographics) to refine strategies.
  • Work closely with the admissions team to ensure a seamless applicant experience.

Market Research & Innovation:

  • Monitor trends in AI education and competitor programs to position MBZUAI effectively.
  • Propose innovative recruitment tactics (e.g., AI-focused workshops, hackathons, alumni testimonials).
  • Monitor application trends, yield rates, and demographic data to optimize recruitment efforts.
  • Prepare reports on recruitment outcomes and strategic recommendations.

Other Duties:

  • Carry out all other duties as reasonably directed by the Line Manager, to support the department and MBZUAI’s objectives.

Academic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Management, Communications, Education, or a related field.
  • A postgraduate degree will be preferred.

Professional Experience:

Essential

  • Minimum of 3 years in student recruitment, marketing, or higher education outreach (experience in STEM/AI fields is a plus).
  • Exceptional public speaking and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong organizational and project management abilities.
  • Proficiency in CRM systems, social media, and data-driven decision-making.
  • Cultural sensitivity and ability to engage diverse audiences.
  • Attributes: Passion for AI/technology, self-motivated, and willing to travel as needed.

Preferred

  • Graduation from a globally ranked (THE, QS, US NEWS, etc.,) top 100 universities.
  • Dual- or multi-language speaker.
