Job Purpose:
The Undergraduate Admissions Specialist plays a key role in supporting the evaluation and enrollment of high-achieving students for MBZUAI’s Bachelor of Science in Artificial Intelligence program. This position involves managing the end-to-end admissions process, engaging with internal and external stakeholders, and applying data-driven strategies to attract a diverse and exceptional student cohort. The role requires a strong understanding of academic standards, effective communication with prospective students, and collaboration across departments to align admissions efforts with MBZUAI’s mission to cultivate future leaders in AI.
Key Responsibilities:
Application Management:
- Oversee the end-to-end admissions process, from application review to final selection, ensuring alignment with MBZUAI’s academic standards and diversity goals.
- Evaluate academic credentials, personal statements, and recommendation letters, conduct initial eligibility screenings and ensure compliance with MBZUAI’s academic standards, with a focus on identifying candidates with strong potential in AI innovation.
Stakeholder Collaboration:
- Work closely with the undergraduate admission committee, faculty, academic advisors, and the marketing team to refine admissions criteria and enhance program visibility.
- Liaise with management teams to align admissions goals with the university’s mission of nurturing AI leaders.
Student Engagement & Support:
- Conduct interviews, webinars, and support with MBZUAI campus tours to engage prospective students and families.
- Provide guidance on scholarships, visa processes, and other relevant issues.
Data Analysis & Reporting:
- Monitor application trends, yield rates, and demographic data.
- Prepare reports on admissions outcomes and strategic recommendations.
Other Duties:
- Carry out all other duties as reasonably directed by the Line Manager, to support the department and MBZUAI’s objectives.
Academic Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Education, Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
- A postgraduate degree will be preferred.
Professional Experience:
Essential
- Minimum 5 years in student admissions, preferably in top-ranked higher education (STEM/AI focus is a plus).
- Strong interpersonal and presentation skills.
- Ability to filter and identify top talents out of thousands of applicants.
- Proficiency in CRM systems (particularly Salesforce) and data analytics tools.
- Knowledge of AI-related global competitions, top-ranked high schools nationwide & worldwide, top AI conferences and journals, etc.
- Attributes: Cultural sensitivity, adaptability, and a passion for advancing AI education.
Preferred
- Graduation from a globally ranked (THE, QS, US NEWS, etc.,) top 100 universities.
- Dual- or multi-language speaker.
