Job Purpose:
Mohamed Bin Zayed University of Artificial Intelligence (MBZUAI) is seeking a Research Resources Specialist to manage the effective allocation and utilization of resources supporting MBZUAI’s advanced research environments. This role requires a deep understanding of the operational needs in innovation and technology-driven labs, with a focus on aligning resource management to enhance MBZUAI’s research capacity.
Key Responsibilities:
Resource Allocation & Utilization:
- Coordinate the allocation of technical and material resources across research labs and initiatives.
- Support the forecasting of future resource requirements based on project roadmaps, ensuring adequate provisions are in place.
- Collaborate with research and lab leadership to ensure resources are aligned with emerging technical developments.
Monitoring & Optimization:
- Develop and implement monitoring frameworks to track resource usage and optimize deployment across research functions.
- Produce regular reports on resource status, gaps, and upcoming needs, including financial operations related to research office activities, centers, infrastructure, and internal initiatives.
Budgeting & Financial Oversight:
- Prepare and monitor budgets, cost projections, and financial models to support resource allocation and ensure efficient utilization.
- Assist in identifying resource gaps and provide input on financial planning to support strategic research objectives.
Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement:
- Work closely with cross-functional teams to align resources with institutional research goals and operational needs.
- Maintain clear communication and collaboration with the Head of Research Resources to support university-wide resource management strategies.
Data & Reporting:
- Maintain accurate records of all resource allocations and usage.
- Prepare reports for the Head of Research Resources and other stakeholders to support decision-making and strategic planning.
Other Duties:
- Perform all other duties as reasonably directed by the line manager that are commensurate with these functional objectives.
Academic Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Operations Management, Business, Finance, or a related field.
- A postgraduate degree will be preferred.
Professional Experience:
- 5+ years of experience in resource or operations planning, preferably in research or technical settings.
- Strong project management and organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks.
- Proficiency with resource management tools and databases, and an understanding of research operational needs.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and a service-oriented attitude, with the ability to collaborate effectively across teams.
- Experience working in a university, research institute, or professional services environment, with familiarity in academic research culture and stakeholder engagement practices.
- Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion.
