Job Purpose:

The Academic Recruitment Specialist plays a critical role in enhancing the recruitment process for faculty and instructors at MBZUAI. This position is responsible for analyzing recruitment data and trends to develop strategic insights that drive effective hiring practices aligned with the university’s mission and goals. By leveraging advanced analytics and best practices from world-renowned institutions, the specialist will contribute to the creation of a diverse and inclusive academic workforce. The role involves collaborating with various stakeholders to ensure that recruitment strategies attract top-tier talent while maintaining compliance with institutional policies and regulations. The Academic Recruitment Specialist aims to foster an innovative and dynamic academic environment through data-driven decision-making and continuous improvement in recruitment processes.

Key Responsibilities:

Data Analysis and Market Research:

  • Conduct comprehensive analyses of Academic recruitment trends and labour market dynamics to inform strategic decision-making.
  • Utilize advanced data analytics tools to assess the effectiveness of recruitment strategies and identify areas for improvement.
  • Generate reports and dashboards that provide actionable insights into candidate demographics, sourcing channels, and hiring success rates.

Recruitment Strategy Development:

  • Collaborate with the Head of Faculty Recruitment & Research Engagement to design and implement innovative recruitment strategies that align with the university’s mission and strategic goals.
  • Develop and manage targeted outreach campaigns to attract a diverse pool of candidates from distinguished institutions worldwide.
  • Identify and engage in partnerships with professional organizations, academic conferences, and institutions to expand the recruitment network and visibility.

Candidate Engagement and Evaluation:

  • Implement best practices in candidate engagement to ensure an exceptional recruitment experience, fostering a positive impression of the university.
  • Support the development of evaluation criteria and processes to assess candidate qualifications and fit effectively.
  • Coordinate and facilitate candidate interviews, workshops, and campus visits, ensuring a comprehensive evaluation process.

Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Initiatives:

  • Promote strategies and initiatives that advance diversity, equity, and inclusion throughout the recruitment process.
  • Monitor and analyze recruitment data to ensure goals related to diversity and inclusion are met, resulting in a balanced and representative faculty.
  • Collaborate with institutional stakeholders to promote awareness and engagement in diversity initiatives.

Continuous Improvement and Best Practices:

  • Stay current with industry trends, best practices, and emerging technologies in academic recruitment to enhance the effectiveness of hiring practices.
  • Recommend and implement improvements to recruitment processes and systems, leveraging technology to streamline workflows.
  • Foster a culture of continuous learning by sharing insights and training criteria with colleagues and stakeholders involved in recruitment efforts.

Reporting and Compliance:

  • Assist in the preparation of compliance reports and documentation related to recruitment activities, ensuring adherence to institutional policies and regulations.
  • Monitor the recruitment dashboard for metrics related to hiring processes, providing regular updates to the Head of Faculty Recruitment & Research Engagement and key stakeholders.
  • Participate in audit preparation and respond to inquiries regarding recruitment policies and practices.

Academic Qualification:

  • 7 to 10 years of relevant experience with a focus on faculty recruitment and academic staffing within higher education set-up.

Professional Experience:

Essential

  • Proven experience in developing and implementing recruitment strategies tailored to academic positions.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage the full recruitment cycle, from job posting to candidate onboarding.
  • Experience in utilizing applicant tracking systems and recruitment software to streamline processes.
  • Strong understanding of academic labour markets and faculty hiring trends.
  • Ability to analyze and interpret recruitment data to drive strategic improvements.

Preferred

  • Experience in collaborating with faculty and academic leaders to define recruitment needs and establish selection criteria.
  • Familiarity with compliance regulations and best practices in higher education recruitment, including equal employment opportunity laws.
  • Background in conducting training sessions for search committees on best practices in interviewing and candidate evaluation.
  • Experience in leveraging social media and online platforms for recruitment outreach and branding.
  • Proven track record in enhancing diversity and inclusion in recruitment efforts, implementing strategies that attract underrepresented groups.
  • Experience in analyzing recruitment metrics to assess the effectiveness of hiring strategies and inform continuous improvement.
  • Familiarity with international recruitment labour practices and the ability to navigate visa and immigration processes for faculty hires.
  • Ability to build and maintain relationships with external stakeholders, such as professional organizations and academic networks, to enhance recruitment efforts.
  • Experience in managing recruitment budgets and resources effectively, ensuring alignment with institutional financial goals.
  • Demonstrated ability to represent the university at job fairs, conferences, and other recruitment events, effectively communicating its mission and values.
  • Experience in developing and implementing innovative candidate engagement strategies to enhance the overall candidate experience.
