Job Focus:
The Culture & Wellbeing Officer supports the delivery of MBZUAI’s culture, wellbeing, and employee experience initiatives through coordination, defined project work, and administrative support. The role assists with wellbeing touchpoints, recognition activities, culture projects, and follow-up tasks linked to employee experience moments.
Key Responsibilities:
Culture & Employee Experience Support
- Assist with the operational setup and coordination of culture-related activities and employee experience events.
- Support the Internal Events Specialist with logistics such as materials preparation, attendee coordination and onsite setup.
- Prepare simple experience-related materials (e.g., checklists, guides, templates).
Wellbeing Support
- Coordinate small-scale wellbeing activities such as awareness days, wellness challenges, or light-touch wellbeing moments.
- Maintain a wellbeing calendar aligned with major employee experience activities.
- Support visibility and signposting of wellbeing resources in partnership with HR Operations and Internal Communications.
Recognition & Community Support
- Assist with logistics for recognition activities (certificates, props, displays).
- Support community-building touchpoints and informal employee experience moments.
Project Coordination
- Own one or two small culture or wellbeing projects per quarter (e.g., onboarding experience enhancements, wellbeing micro-campaigns, recognition resource updates).
- Track project timelines, deliverables, and updates with guidance from the Culture & Employee Experience Senior Specialist.
Administration
- Maintain experience and wellbeing-related records, inventories, and feedback notes.
- Assist with simple vendor follow-up or documentation tasks supporting the Internal Events Specialist.
- Provide timely follow-up communications and confirmations.
Other Duties
- Perform all other duties as reasonably directed by the line manager that are commensurate with these functional objectives.
Academic Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration Organizational Psychology, or a related field.
- A postgraduate degree will be preferred.
Professional Experience:
Essential:
- Demonstrated experience supporting employee engagement, culture, wellbeing, or internal initiatives within HR, employees, or organizational development function(s).
- Experience coordinating staff-facing programs, events, or initiatives that enhance employee experience, inclusion, or wellbeing.
- Proven ability to work directly with employees and managers to gather input, provide guidance, and support participation in engagement or wellbeing activities.
- Experience managing multiple initiatives concurrently, including planning, coordination, follow-up, and basic reporting.
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage timelines, documentation, and stakeholder communication effectively.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage staff from diverse backgrounds in a professional and empathetic manner.
Preferred:
- Experience supporting culture, wellbeing, diversity and inclusion, or employee experience initiatives in a higher education, research, or similarly complex organization.
- Experience delivering or coordinating wellbeing programs, internal campaigns, workshops, or staff engagement events.
- Exposure to UAE workplace context, national wellbeing initiatives, or multicultural workforce environments.
- Experience collecting employee feedback, preparing summaries, and supporting evidence-based improvements to culture and wellbeing initiatives.
- Experience collaborating with HR, internal communications, or learning and development teams to deliver integrated people initiatives.
