Job Purpose:
The Associate Head of Undergraduate Admissions plays a pivotal role in overseeing and advancing MBZUAI’s undergraduate admissions strategies. Reporting to the Head of Undergraduate Student Recruitment & Admissions, the role ensures effective planning, implementation, and evaluation of activities that support the university’s admissions objectives. This includes managing the full student journey from awareness through application, selection, and admission while driving innovation, efficiency, and excellence in outreach and evaluation processes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and coordinate undergraduate admissions operations, ensuring seamless collaboration between recruitment and admissions teams.
- Supervise, mentor, and support direct reports, fostering a high-performance work culture aligned with MBZUAI’s values and strategic goals.
- Support the Head in the development and execution of data-driven admissions strategies.
- Ensure that admissions criteria and processes are consistently applied in line with academic standards, fairness, and MBZUAI’s strategic priorities.
- Ensure that student communication, engagement, and support throughout the application journey are timely, responsive, and informative.
- Maintain strong working relationships with internal stakeholders, including faculty, IT, academic affairs, student life, and external partners such as CRM agencies.
- Support the development and implementation of operational frameworks, budget planning, and reporting requirements.
- Ensure compliance with institutional policies, data protection regulations, and quality assurance protocols.
- Assist in preparing departmental strategic planning, policy development, and reporting to the Provost Office and relevant governance bodies.
- Support the continuous improvement and success of the undergraduate admissions function.
- Perform all other duties as reasonably directed by the line manager that are commensurate with these functional objectives.
Academic Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Education, Business, Communications, or a related field.
- A postgraduate degree will be preferred.
Professional Experience:
Essential
- Minimum of 7 years in student admissions, including supervisory or managerial roles, especially within the top 100 globally ranked higher education institutions.
- Familiarity with AI/STEM education ecosystems and student mobility trends.
- Proficiency in CRM software(s) and admissions systems, with strong data analysis and reporting capabilities.
- Exceptional communication, relationship management, and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Previous experience travelling and representing the institution at key events both locally and internationally.
Preferred
- Graduation from a globally ranked (THE, QS, etc.,) top 100 universities.
- Dual- or multi-language speaker.
